About Don & Jeannie Davis
DON AND
JEANNIE DAVIS
were typical High School
"sweethearts" married right after they graduated High School
in
1973. After nine
months of marriage, Don
& Jeannie received the Lord a few months later, and their lives
were
radically changed.
In February
1975 the Lord called Don into the ministry and immediately they sold
all that
they had and moved to Pensacola, Florida USA to attend Liberty Bible
College.
In 1980 Don
and Jeannie moved back to their hometown in Frederick, Maryland USA. The Lord then used Don to
be part of a Church
planting team. Don became a founding elder of the Frederick Worship
Center and
served as Associate Pastor, Youth Leader and Worship Leader.
After
receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Ministry, Don and his family were sent
out to
start another Church in West Chester, PA.
Don continued his studies with the Center for Urban Theological Studies
in Philadelphia and completed an Associates Degree in Biblical Studies
with an
emphasis on Urban Missions.
Don imparted
his vision for missions and continually encouraged his congregation to
be used
of God in missions. In
9 years, four
families were raised up to go into the mission field from that small
local
church.
During this
time they raised four lovely daughters: Christie, Elesha, Sarah and
Debbie. They all
have the call of God on
their lives and desire to serve Him.
On June of
1990 the Lord spoke to Don and Jeannie about their call to the mission
field
and extended an invitation to them to work in Indonesia. They accepted
the call
and arrived with their family in Medan, Indonesia on November of 1992
to work
in a local church bible Institute.
Despite visa
restrictions, Don was responsible for the full operations of the school. He was able to accomplish
a number of
important tasks including writing 18 courses; a policy manual and a
computerized grading system. Don
conducted a weekly prayer group that was to motivate the interested
students
towards a call to the Mission Field and spend valuable time in prayer
for the
nations. Don took 7 students in their first mission trip to Southern
Thailand. This was
an historic
event. Opportunities
to see students
become missionaries to other cultures became a reality.
In 1995 Don
and Jeannie joined a team that is developing a cross-cultural training
and
resource center in southern Thailand. Until they moved to Thailand full
time,
Don served as Missions and Administrative Pastor at the church he
helped plant
in 1980 - The Frederick Worship Center, which is now known as Harvest
Christian
Fellowship.
Don
and
Jeannie assisted in the programs at the ministry center and developed
an
extensive internship program for training cross-cultural missions among
the
unreached. They
were involved in
assisting churches and other groups to do short term mission trips
there by
providing a host base. They have provided oversight and mentoring for
new teams
on the field preparing them to do church planting work. It
was there that Don founded in conjunction with a
national team a school of Islamic ministry known as the
Institute
for Intercultural Studies where he still serves as part of
the
working committee.
In
June
of 2004 Don joined the team at Accelerating
International Missions Strategies where
he served as the Director of Ministry Operations and the Asia
Director until late 2007. Don
has
graduated from Regent
University completing his Master of Divinity degree
with
an emphasis on Muslim Ministry. Don is now serving on the team of
Strategic Church Network, he is also a coordinator serving the
House2Harvest Network. Along with his mission work serves
as a
consultant to churches and ministries in the area of culture, mission,
making disciples and
church planting.
Don
and his wife Jeannie now live in Portsmouth,
Virginia. All four of their daughters love the Lord and are now grown.
Don
& Jeannie are also proud grandparents of three grandsons. Don’s
wife
Jeannie serves the Regent community managing the Regent University
bookstore.
